Tutorial - Using Stampin' Up! Blends To Make My Own Plaid DSP

Having so few supplies really makes one think outside the box. When I was narrowing down what type of card to make my father-in-law for his birthday, the stamp set I chose was an easy choice. I think I own 12 sets of stamps and only so many of them are masculine birthday "capable".
I went with the Waterfront stamp set from the Occasions catalog. Then I thought of the cool plaid DSP that is out now and because I don't have it I thought I would explore making my own plaid background using the new Blends alcohol markers.
I put all of my tips on how I accomplished making plaid in the video I've linked. It is short and to the point. I found the Waterfront stamp set very easy to work with and the result was a nice watercolor looking scene.
As I stated in the video, I currently own exactly two Stampin' Up! Happy Birthday sentiment stamps. It is very freeing to only spend one second making the decision. The two sentiments are totally different styles. I wish it could always be this easy but I know I will be adding more sentiments to my collection!
Because I chose a dark card base, we wrote the message and signed the inside using a white gel pen which was another fun aspect.
Enjoy this video, it is only 3 min. 45 sec. long. Oh, and I know my voice sounds a little hushed, that is because we are staying with them while we sort out insurance and find another trailer and he was right next to the room I was recording in.
