Purple Colored Water Lily On Black Hope Card

I finally enjoyed another craft day with Libby. This time we chose challenging projects and in the end three projects were completed. However, I will say that we stretched ourselves with this particular project. We attempted it back in December but alas I did not have the correct medium for success so after that discovery I purchased a couple of coloring mediums that Stampin' Up does not carry and I have no experience with: Chalk pastel pencils.

Libby has four total sets of these chalk pencils and I just bought a small 12 pencil set. I do also own a large set of artist colored pencils that are very soft. I do not use them on Stampin' Up projects as the SU watercolor pencils work fine on light papers, but we wanted to color on Basic Black.

I used a mix of the chalk pencils with a couple of purple coloring pencils (Albrecht Durer's by Faber Castell). I love how this card turned out and am so happy that both Libby and I had great success. We are very picky crafters which is why in December we decided to scrap this until a later time. 

I fussy cut the lilies and pads and in the first image you can see I placed the small lily pad far right, and in the second I moved it in. Small things like the placement make a big difference.

Do you like the black foil? I embossed it with the free SAB embossing folder, it is a bundle called "Power of Hope" which is free with $100 purchase. This card does NOT look like something I would make and I love that!

Because of our success with the Chalk Pencils, I am going to try coloring the lily pads with the Stampin' Up! Watercolor pencils after I've laid down some white chalk pencil...I will report back after I've done so.
