Retiring Showcase - Do Something Awesome Card Fronts
Today's retiring showcase includes card fronts using the retiring stamp set En Route and retiring Lemon Lime Twist ink. The blue ink is not retiring, it is Blueberry Bushel. These cards are one layer #simplestamping projects, inks on Whisper White cardstock. I've left these as card fronts and plan to turn them into more advanced projects as time allows.
The reason for three card fronts is that the first two I stamped were crooked, not much, but enough that I kept trying until I got a straight one.. Finally the third one came out straight after I switched to horizontal. Because I was making simple cards, I did not use my Stamparatus. All ink was applies in one shot. I use Stampin' Spots (1" x 1" felt cubes) so had to be sure to rotate the spot as I applied the ink to avoid any edges.
The first card front uses thick lines from Incredible you and the circles from Playful Backgrounds, both are retiring. I really like how this turned out!
After seeing how well the first finished card front turned out, I went back and thought I would challenge myself to fool the eye into thinking they were stamped straight.
The second card front uses the retiring Swirly Bird stamp set, applying random circles and splotches horizontally.
The third was the most crooked but after applying vertical elements, you cannot even tell. The elements stamped above and below the sentiment are from a carry over stamp set called Enjoy Life. In the end, it was the Lemon Lime Twist grass that hid the crooked sentiment. These two card fronts will likely be cut into strips to be popped up on a colored, perhaps dry embossed background.
I have a couple more days in this series to post using more fun retiring stamp sets. Since I am re-starting my stamp collection from nothing, I will be adding these retiring sets to my permanent stamp collection!
