Where Are We Now?

Orlando Thousand Trails - Like No Other TT!

I am so happy with our decision to stay at the Orlando Thousand Trails. We are already scheduled to be here in November, but we needed a place to escape from Hurricane Michael and this was the furthest south and east we could get in our driving window of four to six hours. It was six and a half hours if you avoided the toll road, just over six hours if you went on it. Because we tend to drive...

This is going to be short. I just wanted to confirm that we arrived in one piece, well ahead of Hurricane Michael. I am SOOOO glad we changed our schedule!

We are in a lovely HUGE campground that is by far the nicest of the Thousand Trails we've been to. I have some video footage to process for another day... It is very close to all the amusement parks, you can watch the fireworks at...

Running From Michael

We had to alter our plans to avoid tropical storm Michael. Instead of stopping over for a night in Georgia, we are going to make a run for Orlando which is outside Michael's path. Our trek today will be 6 1/2 hours, but we are game to gitter done and be settled in for the storm.

Update: It took us over 7 1/2 hours to get to our destination. I created a video of the footage I took along...

Two Rest Days - Ten & Eleven - In Tennessee | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

We made it to our next stopping point, a three night break from driving in Tennessee. It ends up being only two days of rest, but we really needed it. The Cherokee Landing Thousand Trails is a throw back to another time. Most of the sites are overgrown and way too small and unlevel for any rigs folks drive today. The electrical equipment I would say is early seventies. They have somewhat...

Day Nine - A Lovely Drive To Tennessee

Publish Date:

Our drive along the east side of the Ozarks was a little bit more hilly, twisty and windy. So, I warned Hub to expect most of our trek the next day to be a repeat. I was wrong with that assessment. We were so far east that our drive started out steep and twisty but quickly turned into rolling hills. It is so beautiful in Arkansas, something I was not expecting.

There are LOTS of chicken...

We drove back up to I40, A pleasant highway with lush mowed green grass on wither side. Today there was zero wind, we were glad for that! The highway is surrounded by either farmland or large deciduous trees. We stayed here for most of the drive.

Today was our day to encounter traffic! I am surprised at how many days in a row we had with no slow downs to speak of. Unfortunately the...

I already posted our tail light fix so will not discuss it here.

First let me talk about how little sleep we got. It was MUGGY! It stayed in the 70s through the night and we kept our downstairs AC on. We've confirmed that the low will be 76 tonight so we will be sure to turn on the bedroom AC.

Ok, back to our drive. Just south of Newton I did a double take. Hub glanced over and...

When we setup camp in Kansas I noticed our right tail light cover was missing on the fifth wheel. We'd checked our lights in the am, so it had parted ways with us at some point between Nebraska and Kansas. We'd already designated a day of rest while in Kansas to shop and do laundry, so Hub added this to our shopping list. We already had clear and black Gorilla tape on hand.

The top of...

Day Five And Six - Resting Up In Kansas | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

We made it to Kansas yesterday and Hub opted for us to go shopping right away so we could spend the next day "resting". I quote resting because it meant we had the pleasure to clean five loads of laundry. We took turns and I wrote articles in between. I noticed we lost the red cover on our right taillight, bummer... I've called the trailer manufacturer and have instructions on how to get a...

Day Four - Driving Through Nebraska

Today's short video is a funny one. We'd camped at Powder River Campground, up at the top of Wyoming, just east of the middle of it. Next to us was a custom fifth wheel with full body paint and a matching newer Ford dually. Guess who we saw in the morning as we prepped to leave, that same rig had parked one row behind us! There's no mistaking that it was the same rig.

Then, Hub was...
