Heart Happiness Wood Texture Card
Here's this weeks Creative Cat Crew inspiration image: The colors are browns, reds, and white.
This weeks Creative Cat Crew color challenge inspired me to use a fun technique I like on wood texture DSP (this DSP is not retiring on June 1). In order for my technique to work I had to use a lighter wood than in the image. I cut out a heart shape the old fashioned way by folding a piece of cardstock and cut 1/2 a heart. I unfolded it and laid it out on the wood pattern, in this case in the bottom right corner. I then made a negative sponge outline of that heart using Early Espresso ink. All of the stamped hearts are from Heart Happiness which is retiring and can be purchased while supplies last. I used the small heart rain stamp for heart texture on the background. Then with versamark I stamped a small heart in the big sponged negative heart and then heat embossed it in gold. The edges were distressed with snips so the white rough edge shows.
I stamped the skinny horizontal lined heart in Lovely Lipstick ( Sneak Peek - New color available June 1) and stamped a small skinny heart outline with versamark and heat embossed that in gold. The sentiment is a sneak peek of one of the new catalog's Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set. I cut a fishtail in the sentiment cardstock and then stapled it on.
I just bought some retiring 1/8" gold ribbon (currently 50% off) and added it underneath the upper popped up red heart. Under the knot I hung some mini gold sequin trim. A few sequins came off so I added them using mini dots.
From here I decided I wanted more contrast of the early espresso hearts and the outline so I took an Early Espresso marker and used the thin line to add shadows to all of them.
I cut a very thin mat using Lovely Lipstick and popped it up on a Whisper White card base. All current products are listed below and the sneak peek new catalog item will be added after June 1.
