3M ATG Tape 1/4" General Use
If you use alot of tape, there is a knock-off brand out there. I've used it and it is only ok....
This is day two's coloring project. My mom pointed out that IF I manage to color every day and I am successful at finishing projects, I will end up with a large number of cards. This is very true. I am going to turn it into an opportunity to give cards to people who I should thank or send appreciation for their help over the years. This card is for my husband who has patiently (no pun intended) and sometimes impatiently cared for me through MANY surgeries over the last 6 years. My body has not been kind to us resulting, sometimes more than one surgery in a year. These were type of surgeries where all other means of fixing me failed and it was the very last option. I am feeling pretty good now though, so they seem to have been worth the trouble.
As a result, I made this card for him. I chose the coloring of our Maine Coon kitten who we rehomed before moving into the trailer. He was not going to be happy moving all the time. We called him "Leonidas". He was very smart and we taught him lots of neat tricks, something Maine Coons have a knack for. He could sit, up, shake, down and walk freely on a leash. We did take him with us on a few trial trips to see if he took a liking to it, but it wasn't his thing. He really was great on a trail though, he would cruise along ahead of us for the most part.
I used Copic Sketch and Copic Original with the superfine nib. I've included a close up of the cat coloring, I could not have achieved the detail without N7sf. I used a sketch challenge for the layout, and did use ribbon as my embellishment. The hearts and bandaid act as embellishments as well. I used the bandaid to make a patterned background. My husband isn't into alot of over the top cuteness so I kept is pretty basic for him.
The funny thing about this particular image is that the cat is wearing a collar. We alwasy had a collar with name and phone number on all of our cats just in case they got out. I found an eBay vendor that made them for a couple bucks each, free shipping and I ordered 20 or so for Leonidas. All different designs and colors. so this particular image was PERFECT.
The stitched oval is from Gina Marie. The sketch challenge has a rectangle but for some reason I felt an oval would be better. I hand cut out the sentiment banner, and because it spanned two rows it is quite a bit fatter than the sketch. I used stormy sky distress ink on the edges of the outer DSP. I believe my husband will like this card alot!
Copic Sketch and Copic Original SF nib Markers used:
Cat: N4, N5, N6, N7sf, RV10
Hearts: R24, R37
Band-aid: E21, E42
