Mom's Frilly Birthday Card | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

I make my mom a couple of cards for her birthday. The reason being that she is a card crafter as well and I pick unique styles that she can use for inspiration for her own crafts. This is my frilly style of card. She always gets one of these. I bought a fancy die set from Gina Marie last year. It appears to be no longer sold, I think had "vines" in its name. I worked hard to perfect the technique of running these type of fancy dies through the Big Shot. I have given my Big Shot to my SIL for safe keeping while I live in our trailer. To replace the Big Shot I now use a Cuttlebug. It closes up to a compact looking purse. This is my first attempt at running intricate dies through it. I had zero problems putting all of the viney dies through it to make all the frilly layers. For a nice matching border I used a new scalloped rectangle die set from Gina Marie.

I wanted a soft look so I carefully sponged Various Distress Inks colors lightly on the ends of the frilly parts.

Flowers - Spun Sugar

Leaves - Peeled Paint

Branches - Brushed Corduroy

Sky - Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint

Sentiment - Tumbled Glass

For the sentiment I used my MISTI and re-applied Tumbled Glass 4x to get a solid color, it came out quite dark. The sentiment is a Penny Black stamp from the set "Heartfelt Thanks".

This card is too thick to mail using a first class USPS postage stamp. It has a total of 6 paper layers with pearls to finish it off. Luckily I now live on my mom's property and all I had to do was walk up the hill to give it to her:) Next I will reveal her other card I made her based on one of my favorite Stampin' Up sets.

I have entered this project in the Splitcoast Stampers Try a New Technique Challenge #611 - Everything Old Is New Again: Focus on the Dies.
