I made this project for the Creative Cat Crew Color Challenge #22. The colors this week are: Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, Sahara Sand, Early Espresso, Whisper White. Since I am attending a craft retreat with my crafting buddies, I was able to use the actual Stampin' Up! inks. I also received my Stampin' Up orders for the last four months that my SU Team Leader was holding for me while I was on the road. Here's the image that was used for inspiration:

I fell in love with the Artistically Asian stamp set the minute I saw it. It is not often I am drawn to a stamp set like that so of course the first card I made with my new supplies uses this set.

I punched a 1" circle to use as a mask for the sun. I am not familiar with SU inks when sponging them on for a background so my background was pretty rough looking. I added water and wicked away some of the color and then splattered Early Espresso using a paintbrush to make the fine splatters.

I then laid out the three focal stamps using my MIST Mini, inked them up with Early Espresso, and stamped them a few times to make sure the ink was nice and dark. I then trimmed down the top layer to 3 3/4 x 5. I followed up with a light edging of gold using my metallic gold ink.

I used a gold gel pen to add accent dots. The Japanese Kanji character I used is the symbol for "friendship. At the time I made the card I had not looked up the translations, I should have used the other Japanese Kanji characters that say (roughly translates) "Faith in God".

I love how this project turned out!

I am entering the following challenges:
