Just A Note Distress Oxide Card
I created this project at my crafting retreat. I've never used Distress Oxide Inks. I used three colors: Faded Jeans, Fossilized Amber and Vintage Photo. For this background I just put a few drops (I bought the reinkers) on a craft mat and made one swipe. Then I dried it with a heat gun. I then used a lettering stencil and sponged Iced Spruce.
The texture of the Oxide inks when dry is that they are very soft, powdery feeling, but nothing rubs off on your fingers. You have to accept the softness because when I stamp a sentiment using something like Memento or Stampin' Up inks, the sentiment doesn't stay crisp looking, it sort of melts into the Oxide layer. It is not a bad look at all, just something to be aware of. I chose to use Stampin' Up Chocolate Chip for all three stamped images.
The flower is from Stampin' Up's Artisitically Asian (love this set!), the sentiment is a retired Stampin' Up stamp and the butterfly is from Penny Black's Happy Snippets stamp set.
I chose to cut the background out using Gina Marie Wonky Stitched Rectangles, the largest one. I matted it with Stampin' Up So Saffron. I died some Krinkle ribbon to match using YR21 Copic Sketch marker.
I felt the card did not look finished so I dug through my embellishments and found a recollections rhinestone, pearl and rhinestud swirled embellishment that was perfect!
This was a fun project and I do believe I will get alot of use out of the Distress Oxide inks. I documented how I DIYed my own ink pads for them.
