Make and Take Coffee Thanks A Latte Card

There was a workshop at our retreat in which we made two projects. This was the first one we made. I enjoyed working with Stampin' Up! Products I don't own. In some cases they are duplicates, or very similar to what I already have. In this case I already own a coffee set and would not justify owning another so similar, but I still enjoyed making the card and having it in my "collection".

I enjoy any and all stamp camps, make and takes, workshops etc. When I first started crafting I was so very slow. It wasn't all that long ago and I was having severe hand pain back then (that I've since had fixed, yay!) so my learning process was slower than most. I still pressed on because I loved working with paper. Because of my historically bad hands I always bring my mini MISTI with me to ensure I don't mess up my stamping. It is a big timesaver for me! (Here's a secret - I've never learned to line up stamps by hand, I bought my first MISTI right when I started stamping - and Im not ashamed to admit it).

So this is my pitch to you all to consider going to these types of events. I've even gone to Saturday make and takes as the local papercrafting store, I am not picky about the brand to be honest. We have a couple of mom and pop - ok likely mostly "mom" papercrafting stores that have these regularly.

So this card uses two stamp sets. Timeless Textures which I own (the coffee stained background) and Coffee Café which has matching dies. For the texture coffee stain background I didn't follow the instructions, rather I used Early Espresso and stamped once then stamped off for the lighter ring. I was supposed to use the Crumb Cake ink for the lighter rings. 

I had my trusty mini MISTI with me for the sentiment. I know I would not have been able to center it properly. We were given the die cut oval to stamp on. Lots of folks had to turn it over and re-stamp on the back and pick the best of the two.

I stamped the foam and sponged the coffee cup with Soft Suede ink. The straw was stamped with Soft Sky ink.

I really like the blue ribbon, it is a textured thicker cotton. It is these nicer ribbons Stampin' Up! has that makes me wish I hadn't already invested in my all white ribbon collection. I know I would never have room for all of the variety of ribbon Stampin' Up! offers so it is just as well that I can admire this ribbon on a project I have in my collection.

The Coffee Break Series Designer Paper of course matched the stamped images perfectly. I love how this came out. Some folks tilted the scalloped oval at a jaunty angle where I was boring and attached it straight up and down.
